Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 7: In a swift and efficient operation, Police Station Nowabad, Jammu, apprehended a miscreant and recovered a weapon used in an attack within 24 hours of the incident, reaffirming the Jammu & Kashmir Police's commitment to maintaining law and order.
The case came to light on April 3, when Mohinder Singh, a resident of Krishna Nagar and owner of a tea stall near St. Peter's High School, Jewel Chowk, filed a written complaint at PS Nowabad. As per his report, around 8:30 PM, a person identified as Raghubir Sharma, son of late Krishan Lal Sharma and resident of Resham Ghar Colony, Bakshi Nagar, entered his shop wielding a sword, verbally abused him, and attempted to assault him. Mohinder managed to escape the attack, but one of his customers, Sunny Kumar, son of Ram Lal, sustained injuries in the scuffle.
The attacker fled the scene with the sword before help could arrive.
Following the complaint, Police Station Nowabad promptly registered FIR No. 44/2025 under Sections 333/115(2)/352/351(2) BNS & 4/25 of the Arms Act and launched an investigation. A special police team, led by SHO Deepak Pathania under the supervision of DySP Headquarters and SP City North Jammu, was constituted to track down the accused.
Thanks to their coordinated efforts, the police successfully apprehended Raghubir Sharma within 24 hours. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, and based on his disclosure, the sword used in the attack was recovered.
The Jammu & Kashmir Police reiterated their resolve to act swiftly against those disturbing public peace and assured continued efforts to deliver justice efficiently and fairly.
