Reasi police seizes heroin, unauthorized weapon; accused arrested

REASI, Apr 13: In a major success in the ongoing drive against drug abuse, Reasi Police achieved a significant breakthrough today. A police party of Police Station Katra apprehended one individual during a routine checking and frisking operation.
The accused, identified as Pawan Singh @ Pummy, son of Vakil Singh, resident of Serwad, Katra, was found in possession of 07.03 grams of heroin-like substance and an unauthorized weapon (Toka). The contraband and weapon were seized on the spot.
In this connection, FIR No. 105/2025 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and 4/25 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. Investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages of this narcotics network.
Notably, the accused is a habitual offender and was previously involved in FIR No. 27/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act and FIR No. 203/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Katra. He was also detained under PIT NDPS Act in 2023 and released after completing one year of detention in 2024.
This successful operation was conducted under the leadership of SHOP Police Station Katra, Inspector Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the supervisionof SDPO Katra, Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra, Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
While sharing the details, SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, reiterated Reasi Police's firm resolve to root out the menace of drug abuse and illicit arms from the district. He appealed to the public to actively support the police in this fight by reporting any suspicious activity.
