Early Times Report

Reasi, Apr 26: Continuing its relentless drive “Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh” against drug trafficking in the district, Reasi Police apprehended a drug peddler during a night patrol between April 25 and 26, 2025.
The accused, identified as Mukesh Sharma, son of Krishan Chand, resident of Kundra Dera Baba, Reasi, aged 29 years, was intercepted by a police team from Police Station Katra. Upon conducting a personal search and checking his luggage, the police recovered 140 strips of Pregabalin Pregzara-300 — each strip containing 10 capsules — from his possession.
The accused was immediately arrested for his involvement in illegal drug smuggling, which continues to pose a serious threat to the local community. A case under the relevant sections of law has been registered against him, and he was produced before the Hon’ble Court of EMIC Katra earlier today.
Reasi Police, under the leadership of SSP Reasi, Sh. Paramvir Singh (JKPS), has adopted a multipronged strategy to combat drug abuse. Awareness programs are being regularly conducted across the district, while strict legal action is being taken against offenders, including booking repeat offenders under the PITNDPS Act. Furthermore, Reasi Police has launched an Anti-Drug Helpline Number 9070907017, assuring the public that the identity of callers will be kept confidential.
Issuing a stern warning, SSP Reasi stated, “There is no space for drug peddlers in Reasi. Those involved in illegal activities must shun this path, or they will be dealt with an iron hand.”
Reasi Police reaffirmed its commitment to continue its crackdown on drug trafficking to ensure a drug-free society.
