JAMMU, Apr 30: On the occasion of World Book Day, the Inner Wheel Club (IWC) Jammu, in collaboration with Padma Sachdeva PG College of Gandhinagar, organized a Book Reading and Poem Recitation Competition at the School for Destitute Children in Channi Rama. This charity event, held annually, aimed to encourage young minds to engage with literature and appreciate the value of reading.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of the 4th to 10th standards, who were given the platform to showcase their reading and recitation skills. The competition was aimed at fostering a love for books, enhancing vocabulary, and improving the students' reading habits.
Ms. Anu Seth, Chief Librarian at Padma Sachdeva PG College, and Manisha Sharma, President of the Inner Wheel Club Jammu, were present to guide and motivate the students. They emphasized the importance of reading lessons and poetry with clarity and passion. "Books open doors to new worlds, and reading is a powerful tool for personal growth," said Ms. Sharma during her address.
To further support the students, prizes in the form of stationery items were distributed to all participants, along with refreshments. Additionally, some educational books were donated to the school library, ensuring that the students have continued access to knowledge. Clothes and fruits were also distributed to the children, making the event a memorable and meaningful experience.
