Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 2: In a significant step toward enhancing industry-academia collaboration, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) conducted a technical assessment test for students enrolled in the Rural Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE) and Agro-Industrial Attachment (AIA) programme. The event was organized by the Division of Agricultural Extension Education at the university's Main Campus, Chatha, in partnership with Bayer Crop Science.
Held under the visionary leadership of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, and the guidance of Dr. Rajinder Peshin, Director Education, Dr. Sanjay Guleria, In-charge Placement Cell, and Dr. Vinod Gupta, Head of the Division and Coordinator of the RAWE & AIA programme, the assessment aimed at shortlisting final-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students for a 30-day internship with Bayer Crop Science.
Selected students will be deployed across various operational teams, including Market Development and Sales, providing them with invaluable exposure to real-time industry practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vinod Gupta emphasized the importance of such industry attachments, stating, "Integrating agriculture graduates into agro-industrial settings equips them with the insight and experience required to thrive in the modern agri-business landscape. This exposure also strengthens their understanding of value addition, agri-entrepreneurship, and the functioning of agro-based industries."
He further noted that the RAWE & AIA programme serves as a crucial bridge between theoretical knowledge and its practical application, enhancing the employability, confidence, and readiness of students to meet the evolving challenges of the agricultural sector.
The assessment was conducted under the meticulous supervision of Dr. J.S. Manhas, Co-coordinator, S. Sarabjeet Singh, Technical Incharge, and a technical team from Bayer Crop Science.
This collaborative effort underscores SKUAST-Jammu's continued commitment to empowering students through experiential learning and meaningful industry engagement.
