GDC Ramgarh, SANKALP-HEW join hands to empower women students

JAMMU, May 2: In a significant step towards women’s empowerment and skill development, Government Degree College (GDC), Ramgarh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Social Welfare Department (SANKALP-HEW), Samba. The collaboration aims to establish a robust support system for women students through the Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW).
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal of GDC Ramgarh, and Mr. Nawaz Sharief (JKAS), District Social Welfare Officer and Nodal Officer, SANKALP-HEW. The signing ceremony was graced by Dr. Aditi Khajuria and Dr. Snobar, Associate Professors at GDC Ramgarh, along with Dr. Ruchi Thakur, District Mission Coordinator, and Ms. Mansi Abrol, Gender Specialist from the Social Welfare Department, Samba.
As part of this collaboration, a dedicated HEW hub has been established on the GDC Ramgarh campus, offering women students access to knowledge-building sessions, skill enhancement workshops, industry-oriented training programs, and various networking opportunities.
The initiative is designed to foster holistic development and financial independence among young women pursuing higher education.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Meeru Abrol expressed gratitude to the District Social Welfare Department for its consistent efforts in promoting gender equity and empowerment.
She highlighted the importance of such initiatives in nurturing confident, skilled, and self-reliant women ready to face global challenges.
This partnership underscores the commitment of SANKALP-HEW and GDC Ramgarh to creating inclusive educational spaces that not only support academic excellence but also empower women to thrive in all spheres of life.
