Arrangements for 3-day Historic Moungri mela discussed at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, May 6: The arrangement for the smooth conduct of 3 day historic Annual Shiv-Parvati Shrine Moungri Mela scheduled from May 14, 2025 at Sar Dabber in Tehsil Moungri were today discussed here at a meeting of District Officers and representatives of management committee of Lord Shiv-Parvati cave shrine Moungri. The meeting was chaired by Member Legislative Assembly Udhampur West Pawan Kumar Gupta alongside Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai here in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex.
Threadbare discussions were held on the maintenance of roads, arrangements related to security, Sanitation, Healthcare, Transport, Drinking water and power supply, checking of rates, Ration supply, Cultural programme and sports etc.
Addressing the meeting, the DC directed the concerned officers to put in place all arrangements pertaining to their respective departments well in advance and in an effective manner, leaving no scope of any complaint from any quarter. She directed the Police Department to ensure proper security arrangement & sensitization of surrounding areas during the mela days. The DC directed BDO Moungri for deployment of adequate manpower and installation of dustbins to ensure proper sanitation at the Mela Site.
The meeting was informed that the 25th wrestling competition will also be organized on the third day of the mela, which is one of the main attractions of the 3-day event.
The government departments were directed to put up their respective stalls to sensitize the public regarding flagship government schemes with special emphasis on PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and facilitation centre for JK Samadhan Portal. It was also decided that the Information and Youth Services & Sports Departments, in coordination with the Education department, will organize a cultural programme and sports events at the venue.
The meeting was attended by DDC member, Jasvir Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr Umesh Shan; Mela Officer, Tehsil Moungri Arushi Sabharwal and other senior officers of the line departments, besides President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma; President Shiv Parvati Cave Shrine, Hans Raj Thakur; Dy Chief Warden Civil defence organization, Swatantra Dev Kotwal and prominent citizens.
