Jammu Municipal Corporation takes action against unregistered dairies

JAMMU, May 14: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today carried out a coordinated drive against unregistered cow and buffalo dairies operating within the city limits. The initiative was undertaken to enforce compliance with the municipal regulations regarding animal husbandry and dairy operations.
Under the directions of Commissioner, JMC Dr Devansh Yadav, Animal Welfare Officer, JMC Dr Gourav Chowdhary in coordination with Tehsildar Bahu Mr Raju Sambyal, SHO Bagh e Bahu Inspector Ashwani Kumar and other officials from the JMC's Veterinary Wing, Dr Divya Sharma and Enforcement wing jointly conducted impounding drive across various localities in Jammu. As a result, several animals were taken into custody from unregistered dairies.
AWO, Dr Gourav Chowdhary reiterated that operating an unregistered dairy is a violation of municipal rules and may result in strict action, including confiscation of animals and penalties. Citizens are therefore urged to register their cow and buffalo dairies in accordance with the Jammu Municipal Corporation's guidelines at the earliest and start following scientific cow and Buffalo dung waste disposal practices viz. Constructing Vermi-Compost, Bio-Gas plant etc as more such impounding drives would be carried out by JMC on the unregistered dairies running in Jammu City.
