Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 12 bovines rescued, vehicle seized | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 18: Jhajjar Kotli Police have successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt under Operation Kamdhenu in the Nagrota Sub-Division. During a naka check at Panjal, the police team intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK17-5663 transporting 12 bovines illegally. The animals were found tied and being transported without valid permission. The vehicle was seized, while the driver fled the scene. The rescued bovines have been taken into police custody. A case under FIR No. 68/2025 has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli under Sections 223 and 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act. Investigation into the matter is currently underway. Local residents have expressed their appreciation for the police’s continuous efforts and strict actions against bovine smuggling, applauding their commitment to protecting animal welfare and enforcing the law. |
