GDC Neeli Nallah celebrates World Environment Day

UDHAMPUR, June 5: Today on 5th of June 2025, GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur celebrated World Environment Day with a series of impactful events and activities aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices among the students and the staff members. The activities were conducted under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Principal of the College.
The celebration began with a tree plantation drive within the college premises, inaugurated by the Principal who emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in protecting the environment. Over 20 saplings of native species were planted by the students and staff members as part of "Go Green" initiative. A signature campaign was also a part of the event with the theme "Think Green, Be Green" in which the Principal, staff members and students participated. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the pressing issue of plastic pollution. The signature campaign, part of the global effort to reduce plastic use and adopt eco-friendly alternatives, encourages participant to pledge their commitment to environmental conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal said, "The Signature Campaign symbolically demonstrated our support for a plastic-free future and willingness to take collective action towards sustainable living". She further stressed that the World Environment Day is a reminder that we must act now to protect our environment. Our college is committed to nurturing responsible citizens who contribute positively to a sustainable future.
The event was organized by the members of Eco Club, Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Prof. Rekha Sharma & Mr. Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal. Others present were Dr. Mohd Mubariq Mahire, Ms. Diksha Sharma.
