THANNAMANDI, June 14: The Department of Botany in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council of Govt. Degree College Thannamandi celebrated World Blood Donor Day as part of Viksit Bharat@47 here today. On this occasion an impressive awareness program on the theme "Give blood, give hope, together we save lives" organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal of College. Dr. Ashaq Malik, Head Department of Botany and IQAC Co-ordinator in College, Co-ordinated the program.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof. Farooq Ahmed, explained with examples, the biology, composition and importance of blood donation. He emphasized upon the need of voluntary blood donation that not only safeguard lives of others but gives immense health benefits to donors themselves. While acknowledging the selfless service of blood donors, he said a blood donation camp shall soon be organized in the college in the upcoming session. No gift is better than the voluntary blood donation and youth and students should come forward for this noble service to humanity, he added.
