Reasi police rescues bovine animals; FIR registered | | | Early Times Report REASI, June 27: Continuing its efforts against illegal and inhumane transportation of animals, Reasi Police successfully rescued two bovine animals during a late-night operation near Sool Nallah, Katra. During routine patrolling, a team of Police Post Kakryal intercepted an auto load carrier bearing registration number JK03-N-5021, coming at a high speed from Panthal side. Upon being signalled to stop, the driver instead attempted to flee. A brief chase ensued, during which the vehicle was abandoned by the driver on the roadside near Sool Nallah. Taking advantage of the darkness, the accused managed to escape from the spot. On inspection of the abandoned vehicle, two oxen (bovine animals) were found tied in a cruel and inhumane manner inside the auto. The animals were immediately rescued and handed over to the concerned authorities for proper care. In this regard, a case FIR has been registered under relevant sections of law including Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the absconding accused. The operation was executed under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran-JKPS. Reasi Police is committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all living beings and urges citizens to report any such incidents of cruelty or illegal animal transport. |
