Induction Training for newly promoted L/A-Headmasters inaugurated at Polytechnic College, Jammu

JAMMU, July 2: The School Leadership Academy (SLA) of SCERT-J&K, in collaboration with DIET Jammu inaugurated a 3-day Induction Training Programme for newly promoted Headmasters today at Government Polytechnic College, Jammu. The event was held under the able mentorship of Shantmanu (IAS), Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Director, SCERT, J&K.
The programme is aimed at equipping school leaders with essential leadership, administrative, and pedagogical competencies to effectively implement the reforms envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The inaugural session began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and leadership.
Dr. Naseem Javid Choudhary (JKAS), Director, School Education Jammu graced the occasion as Chief guest whereas Joint Director DSEJ, Gurdev Kumar (JKAS) and
Ms Manisha (JKAS), Personnel officer, DSEJ were the guests of honour.
The Welcome Address was delivered by the Joint Director, SCERT-Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, who emphasized the need for leadership and management, pedagogical innovations, and inclusive education, and expressed SCERT Jammu's commitment to enhancing awareness about school culture and the educational landscape in the division.
Joint Director DSEJ, Gurdev Kumar(JKAS) while speaking on the occasion stressed the importance of investing in school leadership for systemic change in education.
Parshotam Singh, Programme Coordinator, presented the Concept Note for more than 200 HOI's, outlining the structure and focus areas of the training to ensure the implementation of the vision of NEP 2020 and creating supportive school ecosystems. On the occasion, Design of Training(DoT) was also released.
In his address, Dr. Naseem Javid Choudhary (JKAS), Director School Education Jammu, highlighted the crucial role of headmasters in bringing NEP 2020 into practice. He encouraged participants to lead with commitment, innovation, and a learner-first approach. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Manisha Chun, Associate Coordinator, who appreciated the guidance of the leadership, active involvement of participants, and the efforts of the organizing team.
The training programme will continue till 4th July 2025, featuring expert-led sessions, group reflections, and hands-on planning exercises aimed at fostering effective school leadership across the Jammu Division.
