JAMMU, July 9: PSPS Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, today successfully organized a comprehensive Tree Plantation Drive within its premises, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement.
The event was a collaborative effort with the Forest Department, Urban Forestry Division, Jammu, and the Jammu Municipality Corporation. The drive saw the enthusiastic planting of a diverse range of trees and plants, including iconic Chinar trees, various pine species, and Golden Cyprus, contributing significantly to the grdeen cover of the college campus. This initiative not only aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the college but also to promote ecological balance and raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation among the youth. The tree plantation drive witnessed robust participation from the college's NCC cadets and a large number of students, who actively engaged in the planting process with great zeal. Their involvement underscored the college's dedication to fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among its student body.
The event was graced by the presence and active participation of prominent faculty members, including the esteemed Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra. She was joined by Prof. SS Parhar, HOD History; Dr. Vijendra, HOD Sanskrit; Dr. Rahul, HOD BioTech; Dr. Arjun Kotwal, HOD Computer Application; Dr. Anuradha, HOD Punjabi; Dr. Rawan Kumar; Dr. Iqbal Qasim; and Prof. Suman Bala, NCC ANO. Members of the administrative staff also lent their support, ensuring the smooth execution of the drive.Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra highlighted the significance of such initiatives in combating climate change and promoting a healthier environment. She expressed gratitude to the Forest Department and the Jammu Municipality Corporation for their invaluable collaboration and support, emphasizing that collective efforts are crucial for sustainable development.The Tree Plantation Drive at PSPS Govt. College for Women stands as a testament to the institution's proactive approach towards environmental stewardship and its commitment to nurturing responsible citizens who are conscious of their ecological footprint.
