Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 27: Prominent social activist Parvinder Singh Happy, in collaboration with the Jeevan Nagar Welfare Committee, conducted a comprehensive tour of Jeevan Nagar today to take stock of the persistent civic issues being faced by local residents. The visit aimed at engaging directly with the community, understanding their grievances, and facilitating solutions through appropriate channels.
During the tour, residents, particularly from Pathri Wali Gali, highlighted the acute water scarcity that has disrupted daily life for the past 4 to 5 days. Complaints centered around low water pressure, irregular supply, and the general unreliability of essential water services. Locals urged Parvinder Singh Happy to intervene with the concerned departments to restore consistent water supply and improve pressure in the pipelines.
Another key concern raised was the dilapidated condition of lanes and drains in the locality. Residents expressed frustration over clogged drains, broken pathways, and poor sanitation, which not only cause inconvenience but also pose serious health and hygiene risks during the monsoon season.
Responding to the residents' concerns, Parvinder Singh assured them of swift follow-up with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department and other civic agencies to resolve the pressing issues. He emphasized that providing basic amenities like clean water and well-maintained infrastructure is a fundamental right of every citizen and pledged to act as a bridge between the people and the administration.
In a positive development, two new transformers were installed today in Jeevan Nagar to improve the local power infrastructure. The installation was carried out in the presence of Parvinder Singh Happy, alongside officials from Vaishno Associates, the agency overseeing the project. This move is expected to reduce frequent power fluctuations and load shedding in the area, especially during peak hours.
The visit was also marked by the active participation of Sanjeev Sharma, President of the Jeevan Nagar Welfare Committee, and Inderjit Singh Sambyal, Spokesperson of the Committee. They, along with other office bearers, accompanied Parvinder Singh Happy throughout the tour, expressing solidarity with the residents and reinforcing their commitment to resolving community issues.
The tour concluded with an assurance from Parvinder Singh Happy that a detailed report of the grievances will be submitted to the concerned municipal authorities, and consistent follow-up will be ensured until the problems are resolved.
This proactive outreach has been welcomed by the residents of Jeevan Nagar, who appreciated the gesture and expressed hope that their long-pending issues would now be addressed on priority.
