Dharmendra Pradan inaugurates newly constructed dormitories, staff quarters

Srinagar, July 31: Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of India, virtually inaugurated the newly constructed Dormitories and Staff Quarters at P.M. Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Village Aglar Tehsil Zainapora District Shopian on 29th July 2025. The event was held in the presence of Shri Showkat Ahmed Ganie Member of Legistative Assembly.
Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister of Education extended his congratulations on the inauguration of Dormitories and Staff Quarters. Addressing the gathering Hon’ble Member of Parliament congratulated the students and staff of PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Village Aglar Tehsil Zainapora, District Shopian and stated that the Navodaya Vidyalaya are premier educational institutions in the country, providing quality education to talented rural children. Navodaya has been producing exceptional results including in the recent CBSE examinations, as well as outstanding performance in the IIT JEE results. The students from Navodaya Vidyalayas contribute immensely to science and technology for development of country.
Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, addressing the gathering, congratulated the students and staff of PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Aglar, Tehsil Zainapora District Shopian for getting selection on merit basis through JNVST which is being conducted on All India basis. He appreciated the NVS for providing quality education especially to talented students of rural areas. He also mentioned that the parents of the students are fortunate for getting their wards selected and admitted in the Navodaya Vidyalaya Aglar Shopian. He mentioned that the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti is providing best platform for grooming of the students. He said that education can transform society and Navodaya Vidyalyas are one of the best institutions to carry the process in the Country. He also appreciated the students who participated in the Youth Parliament in session 2024-25 conducted by the Vidyalaya and he appreciated the organization for programme. He also thanked the Vidyalaya administration for inviting him to attend such a grand occasion.
4. Navodaya Vidyalaya, Village Aglar Tehsil Zainapora, District Shopian was sanctioned by the Government of India in the year 2007 and has been operational at its permanent campus spread over 11.24 Acre since August 2022, providing modern quality residential education free of cost to talented rural children from the district. Presently, 328 students. i.e. 226 Boys and 102 Girls are enrolled in this Vidyalaya. The campus is well equipped with excellent classrooms, modern laboratories, play fields, a dining hall, dormitories and staff accommodation. In order to fully utilized the capacity of the JNV, additional dormitories and staff qtrs. have been constructed, which will significantly enhance the educational opportunities available to children in the district. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas primarily provide quality modern residential education at free of cost to talented children from rural areas from Class 6 to Class 12. Currently, there are a total of 653 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas functional across the country. These schools are run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti through its 08 Regional Offices. This education includes essential components such as social values, environmental awareness, co-curricular activities, and physical education. The quality of these institutions is evident from the fact that many students educated here go on to succeed in prestigious fields such as civil services, medicine, and engineering. This year, 38 students from Navodaya Vidyalayas were selected in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Additionally, 4,492 students from Navodaya Vidyalayas qualified in JEE Mains, 1,083 in JEE Advanced, and 19,813 in NEET. Furthermore, over the past four years, 25 students from Navodaya Vidyalayas have also gained admission to International Universities.
