Free Orthopaedic camp at Old Age Home, Ambphalla by ASCOMS team

JAMMU, Aug 7: As part of the ongoing observance of Bone and Joint Day 2025, the Department of Orthopaedics, ASCOMS & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu, conducted a community outreach visit to the Old Age Home at Ambphalla on 7th August 2025. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Orthopaedic Association, under the thematic focus: "Old is Gold - 360° Care for the Elderly."
The visit aimed to extend medical support and emotional companionship to senior residents, many of whom face challenges associated with age-related orthopaedic conditions, including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and mobility impairments. The ASCOMS team provided on-site consultations, basic musculoskeletal assessments, and health education tailored specifically to the elderly population. Patients underwent BMD testing as vital step in assessing their bone strength and to ensure early detection of osteoporosis.
The Home For Aged & Infirm, Ambphalla, Jammu was represented by ID Soni, President; Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary;
RC Vaid & Shri. SatPal Sharma, Committee Members and Sr. Rajinder Singh, Life Member of the Home . The visit was conducted under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Rajesh K. Gupta, Head, Department of Orthopaedics and Ex-President, J&K Orthopaedic Association, accompanied by Dr. Sumeet Singh Charak, Dr. Anitipal Singh , Dr. Abhishek Bral, and Dr. Saqib Shafi. The doctors interacted extensively with the residents, offering valuable guidance on maintaining bone health, fall prevention, and appropriate physical activity for geriatric individuals.
This compassionate outreach exemplifies ASCOMS' commitment to holistic and inclusive care, going beyond hospital walls to reach the most vulnerable members of society. The event concluded with heartfelt interactions between the medical team and the residents, reaffirming the institution's dedication to elder care with dignity, empathy, and clinical excellence. The camp was organised under the patronage of worthy President of ASCOMS & Hospital His Holiness, Swami Prem Vivekanand Ji.
