8/9/2025 10:29:06 PM
Early Times Report

Maligaon, Aug 9: In line with Indian Railways nationwide Swachhata Campaign launched in connection with the Independence Day Celebrations 2025, N. F. Railway has initiated a series of cleanliness drives and awareness programmes across all its divisions, workshops and establishments. The campaign, which commenced on 01st of August, will continue till 31st of October 2025, focusing on spreading awareness and fostering public participation to ensure a cleaner and greener railway environment.
To mark the beginning of the campaign, the Swachhata Pledge was taken by officers, staff and volunteers across the N. F. Railway network. A notable event was held in the Tinsukia Division, where a ‘Prabhat Pheri’ was organized, followed by the pledge-taking ceremony. Bharat Scouts and Guides actively participated in the initiative, organising a Nukkad Natak and station cleaning drive at New Tinsukia Railway Station to engage the public on the theme of cleanliness. A special cleanliness and awareness campaign was also launched at Guwahati Railway Station. As part of this, pamphlets on “Say No to Plastic Pollution” were distributed among passengers to discourage the use of single-use plastics. An intensive cleanliness drive of the railway tracks, especially beyond the platform areas, was carried out under the Swachhata Abhiyan. Awareness on proper garbage disposal has been emphasized through a focused “Use the Dustbin” campaign, complemented by public announcements, anti-littering signage and counselling sessions.
Further, cleanliness efforts extended beyond station premises into railway colonies, where community-led Shramdan programmes were conducted to promote civic responsibility among railway families. The campaign also featured installation of Swachhata-themed selfie booths at major stations, distribution of informative pamphlets and display of anti-littering notices across platforms, footbridges and waiting halls. Regular announcements are being made at stations and onboard trains, urging passengers to adopt hygienic practices and proper usage of bio-toilets. As the campaign progresses, N. F. Railway remains committed to reinforcing Indian Railways vision of a cleaner and healthier travel experience for all. Wide and effective publicity of the Swachhata Campaign was carried out through the official social media handles of N. F. Railway to create awareness among the public, highlight ongoing activities across various divisions and stations, and encourage active participation from rail users in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across the railway network.
