JAMMU, Aug 9: Ensuring Public Health and Consumer Safety at the top priority the teams of Drug & Food Control Organisation are alert and on vigilant mode in compliance to the directions of Ms. Smita Sethi Commissioner FDA J&K, taking the lead ahead today the team of DFCO Jammu led by Madan Magotra -Deputy Commissioner Food Safety Division Jammu, Pankaj Soni -Deputy Commissioner Food ICIL jammu supported by enthusiastic team of Food Safety Officers of District accompanied by Manoj Prabhaker, Deputy Controller, legal Metrology Jammu, the squad rolled up the sleeves and did raid in at a Business Operators Unit Cold store Kanji House jammu the team unearthed a Huge & Massive haul of large quantity of expired, Unsafe Non -veg. Food products (including 27 quintals of rotten & spoiled chicken and 100 kg of decomposed rotten fish) which during the inspection was found totally rotten, spoiled deteriorated, decomposed and decayed with a putrid and unpleasant smell, the team seized this consignment of rotten non-veg. products and kept under the Custody of MC Jammu where this unsafe, hazardous and contaminated catchment was kept in packed Vehicle. Meanwhile, the Owner of the establishment was booked under insanitary conditions under FSSA. And for the gross violation of not maintaining temperature chain the Department has been taken the offender into account under section 56 &58 of FSS Act. Afterwards the Department with the Support of Municipal Corporation of Jammu disposed of this seized rotten non -veg consignment weighing about 28 quintals under proper SOP at Koud Balwal Dumping yard Jammu.
Keeping in view this alarming situation and Public endangered Adulterated food Products the Enforcement teams of the Department inform the public that where ever Frozen Meat or chicken and non-vegetarian products are found suspected, immediately inform the Department on Toll free no. 104 for immediate redressal, it has also been noticed max. frozen non vegetarian food items are laced with unpermitted colours which is a heinous mal practice.
Laying stress on the security of the good health of the public, significance of Food Safety, Consumer Safety and achievements thereto, enforced proactive measures for Consumers Safety and Commitment to beat the thwart of Food Samita Sethi, Commissioner Food & Drug Administration J&K has strictly instructed the Enforcement officers of DECO J&K to curb Adulteration, such nefarious practices, insanitations, and allied malpractices, taking the lead ahead, the team of Food Safety Officers of Drugs and Food Control Orgn. Jammu Division are committed to carry out vigorous intensifications of various markets across the length and breadth, from block level to District and then Division level enforced Provisions laid down under the FSS Act 2006 in letter & Spirits,
*Commissioner, FDA, Ms. Smita Sethi*, emphasized the Deptt.s unwearing commitment is shall be ongoing till the chain of nexus is broken.
*It is pertinent to mention that such a massive violation of FSSA at large Scale is an alarming threat to the Consumer Safety* these offences lead to various ailments like life threating disease including Food Poisoning, hepatitis, Cancer, Epidemics so the defaulters will be put under punitive action under the Act. And the campaign will continue till end of this dangerous menace.
Expressing Concern over the adulteration and insanitation the team expressed that such malpractices are usually repeated in summer seasons which pose serious health hazards,Risks to the Consumers and public in General. So to snub the traditional practice and to ensure, safe, pure, quality, eateries, sweets, water, juices, milk, milk products selling the same to the Gen. public, the Deptt of Food Safety DFCO Jammu under the Aegis of FSSA in J&K is committed to all take necessary and Corrective measures thereto.It was ensured not to sell expired, spoiled and exposed, foods, cut fruits and not make use of unpermitted colors. *For redressal of any type of genuine Complaint reg.
