GCW Parade Ground hosts District & Divisional-Level I-Day events - seminar

JAMMU, Aug 12: Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Ground, Jammu, successfully organized a series of events under the 79th Independence Day Celebrations, beginning with the District-Level Program for District Jammu on August 7-8, 2025, and culminating in the Divisional-Level Seminar on August 11, 2025.
The Divisional-Level Seminar, on the theme "Role of J&K Youth in Achieving Viksit Bharat @2047," was part of the two-day Divisional-Level Events (August 11-12, 2025) for Jammu Division. Participants for the seminar were selected from their respective colleges after competing at the District Level across all districts. Ten finalists from the Jammu Division presented their perspectives and innovative ideas for nation-building.
The event was adjudicated by an eminent jury comprising Dr. Archana Bakshi, Associate Professor, English, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu; Dr. Vandana Khajuria, Associate Professor, English, GGM Science College, Jammu; and Dr. Alpana Vohra, Dean Research Sciences, GCW Parade Ground, Jammu.
The participants highlighted a variety of strategies for empowering the youth and accelerating national progress, including:
Promoting skill-based education aligned with industry needs to enhance employability.
Encouraging entrepreneurship, start-up culture, and innovation at the grassroots level.
Strengthening environmental awareness and sustainable practices among the youth.
Leveraging technology and digital platforms for governance, learning, and economic growth.
Preserving and promoting local culture, traditions, and indigenous knowledge systems as part of national identity.
Active youth participation in social welfare, civic responsibilities, and nation-building initiatives.
Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo, Nodal Principal, Jammu Division Colleges, addressed and motivated the participants, commending their vision and enthusiasm. He also applauded the proactive role of the Director Colleges, Dr Sheikh Ajaz Bashir and the Financial Commissioner (ACS), Higher Education Department, Sh Shantmanu in conceptualizing and organizing such youth-centric events across Jammu & Kashmir.
