Celebration of Anti Ragging Week at GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 13: As part of the ongoing Anti-Ragging Week Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu successfully organized two activities namely, a Slogan Writing Competition and selfie corner for promoting the anti-ragging campaign on 12th August 2025, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment. The event was inaugurated by the worthy Principal, Dr. Geetanjali Andotra. She addressed and motivated the students to work as warriors against ragging and create a respectful and ragging-free atmosphere. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across all departments, who crafted powerful and thought-provoking slogans emphasizing the importance of eradicating the menace of ragging and cultivating a culture of mutual respect and harmony. The initiative served as a dynamic platform for creative expression, while also enhancing awareness about the serious implications of ragging and reinforcing the values of dignity, empathy, and solidarity among the student community. The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of jury members, Prof Rupinder kour, Prof Samriti Agarwal and Prof Shifali Abrol, who commended the originality and depth of the submissions. The first position was awarded to Taniya Sharma of semester 3rd, followed by Aditi Angral of semester 5th, who secured the second position. The third position was jointly held by Ridham and Ruchira Verma of semester 5th. All participants were presented with certificates in recognition of their active engagement and dedication to the cause. Selfie corner for promoting anti-ragging campaign was a unique concept to grasp the attention of students about the theme of the occasion. The events were graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. D. S. Manhas, Dean of Student Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, who lauded the students' initiative in taking a stand against ragging.
Dr. Rabia Javed, Convener, Anti-Ragging Committee, along with committee members, extended heartfelt appreciation to all participants for their spirited involvement and for using their voices to promote a ragging-free academic environment. This event set a constructive and inspiring tone for the remainder of Anti-Ragging Week 2025, underscoring the college's proactive approach to student welfare and its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of ragging.
