District police Reasi nab four persons for impersonation as authorized pony carriers on SMVD track

REASI, Aug 13: In view of the heightened security arrangements implemented for Independence Day, District Police Reasi have intensified patrolling and checking on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) track to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
During separate patrolling operations in the jurisdiction of Police Post Banganga, police teams intercepted four individuals who were illegally plying as Pony Carriers by impersonating genuine cardholders.
Case 1:
At Bathing Ghat No. 03, Ban Ganga, a person identified as Kalu Ram S/O Raji Ram R/O Chakkhar, Ghanota Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu was found using Pony Card No. 200605 issued in the name of Deepak Raj S/O Krishan R/O Village Tung, District Jammu. The photograph on the card did not match, and further ID verification confirmed impersonation. FIR No. 230/2025 U/S 319/223(a) BNS was registered at P/S Katra.
Case 2:
Near Shubra Bhawan, Ban Ganga, Mohd Amin S/O Manzoor Hussain R/O Village Dhanu, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu was caught using Pony Card No. 200267 belonging to Gulam Haider S/O Mohd Hussain R/O Village Dhanu, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu. FIR No. 229/2025 U/S 319/223(a) BNS was registered at P/S Katra.
Case 3:
At Bathing Ghat No. 02, Ban Ganga, Vinod Kumar S/O Sham Lal R/O Panjar, Tehsil Moungri, District Udhampur was found using Pony Card No. 204158 issued to Romesh Singh S/O Chuni Lal R/O Panjar, Tehsil Moungri, District Udhampur. FIR No. 233/2025 U/S 319/223(a) BNS was registered at P/S Katra.
Case 4:
Near Geeta Mandir, Ban Ganga, Subash Singh S/O Karan Singh R/O Tote, Tehsil Bhomag, District Reasi was found using Pony Card No. 203343 belonging to Vinod Singh S/O Rattan Singh R/O Tote, Tehsil Bhomag, District Reasi. FIR No. 231/2025 U/S 319/223(a) BNS was registered at P/S Katra.
In all cases, the accused persons had no authorization to operate as Pony Carriers on the SMVD track and were impersonating licensed cardholders in violation of the law. Further investigation in all four cases is underway.
All the operations were conducted under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran-JKPS.

appeals to all Pony Operators and service providers on the SMVD track to strictly adhere to the rules and carry valid identification at all times. Any violation will be dealt with sternly under the law.
