AWWA Udhampur celebrating its 59th Raising Day
8/23/2025 10:17:21 PM
Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Aug 23: Army Women's Welfare Association (AWWA), one of the largest registered NGOs in the country, marked its 59th Raising Day on 23rd August 2025, with the Regional AWWA Northern Command hosting vibrant celebrations at the Chinar Complex, Udhampur. Staying true to its guiding motto, "Asha, Wishwas, Aastha", AWWA continues to empower Army families with professional skills, financial independence and entrepreneurial capabilities, enabling them to face life's challenges with confidence and resilience.
In the run-up to the Raising Day, a series of impactful events were held, focusing on key themes such as the Veer Naris Outreach Program, Operation Sadbhavana, Ecological Awareness and Medical Camps. These initiatives beautifully encapsulated AWWA's commitment to holistic welfare, environmental sustainability and fostering a stronger sense of community.
Regional AWWA remains steadfast in its dedication to the welfare of Veer Naris, ensuring that they and their families are supported with dignity as they transition into civilian life. On 21st August, 58 Veer Naris from Udhampur and surrounding areas were honoured and felicitated by Regional President AWWA, with officials from the Veterans Cell and Zila Sainik Board being present to address their concerns and needs.
Under Operation Sadbhavana we maintain a focussed approach towards our unique initiatives in vocational training and education while continuing to build trust & community bonding. A Hunar Haat was organised towards empowering women and providing a platform to our budding entrepreneurs, where families showcased their talents and craftsmanship, bringing a cultural flair to the initiative. A series of Medical Camps were also conducted over four days for all families at various Military stations in the command zone.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, Regional AWWA undertook a multifaceted approach to promote ecological awareness. Mrs. Radhika Anand, CEO and Founder of Plantology, delivered an inspiring talk on eco-conscious living, while tree plantation drives across various locations reinforced the organization's environmental focussed initiatives.
On AWWA Day, the festivities culminated in a grand event at the Chinar Complex, Udhampur, with concurrent celebrations held at other stations across the Command Zone. Shinei Sharma, Regional President AWWA, presented the prestigious AWWA and Polaris Awards to outstanding beneficiaries who have made significant contributions to the organization. In her address, Sharma encouraged members to actively contribute to nation-building efforts and to engage in activities that not only align with AWWA's goals but also create a positive impact on society and the nation at large.
