Successful meeting organized by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager

JAMMU, Aug 25: Indian Railways keeps taking various steps with new schemes from time to time to expand and modernize the services of its goods depot (goods shed). Taking this forward, today on 25 August 2025, an important meeting was organized with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Shri Uchit Singhal and contractors of Bari Brahman Railway Station Goods Shed at the Divisional Office of Jammu Division of Northern Railway. In which topics like development and management of goods depot (goods shed) were discussed. The objective of this meeting was to promote private participation in the development of goods portfolio in small and road side enterprises, so that the capacity of the goods shed can be increased. In this meeting, other important issues were put forth by the contractors of goods sheds before Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal. These included modernization, construction of high level platforms at goods sheds, efficient lighting and road construction for better circulating areas etc. This meeting will promote private participation to encourage the establishment of new goods shed facilities at small stations.
On this successful meeting held in the division, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager said that Bari Brahmana is an important station from the point of view of goods traffic. Due to which the infrastructure of the railway is getting strengthened. The arrival of goods train in Bari Brahmana has not only fulfilled the needs of local industries, but has also opened new employment opportunities in the area. At present, about 50 inward rakes arrive in Bari Brahmana goods shed every month. Similarly, the joint parcel producing rapid cargo train to be started soon in the Kashmir Valley, which will operate from Badgam railway station of Kashmir Valley to Adarsh Nagar Delhi. A meeting was held with the traders of Jammu and Kashmir in relation to this, in which Assistant Commercial Manager of the division Shri Jaswant Singh was also present. In which ways to streamline and modernize services for freight and parcel transport were discussed. Which can be coordinated with various logistics service providers and better and quick delivery of goods can be ensured.
