JAMMU, Aug 26: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rohiin Chandan today lauded the unveiling of the "Sudarshana Chakra" Air Defense System, a cutting-edge, fully indigenous defense initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech. Terming it "Built by Bharat, for Bharat," Chandan emphasized that the system symbolizes New India's resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and counter emerging threats with advanced, homegrown technology. He credited the visionary leadership of PM Modi for propelling India's defense capabilities to unprecedented heights over the past 11 years of BJP-led governance.
The Sudarshana Chakra Mission, inspired by Lord Krishna's invincible weapon, is designed to protect India's critical infrastructure, military bases, hospitals, railways, and religious sites by 2035. Chandan highlighted that this state-of-the-art air and missile defense system, integrated with the DRDO's Kusha Air Defense System and next-generation IACCS nodes, will provide a robust shield against aerial threats while incorporating offensive capabilities. "This is not just a defense mechanism but a bold statement of India's technological prowess and self-reliance," Chandan stated, noting that the system's development, research, and manufacturing are entirely indigenous, showcasing the ingenuity of India's youth and scientific community.
He praised the Indian Army's transformation under PM Modi's leadership, emphasizing the integration of advanced indigenous weapons that have strengthened national security. "Over the past 11 years, the BJP-led government has prioritized Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), ensuring our armed forces are equipped with world-class, homegrown technology. The Sudarshana Chakra system is a shining example of this commitment," he said. He further noted that the system's development comes as a strategic response to potential misadventures by adversaries, particularly Pakistan, with PM Modi's smart and decisive leadership ensuring India remains prepared for any challenge.
He also underscored the broader impact of the Modi government's defense reforms, which have bolstered India's global standing as a military and economic power. Citing recent IMF data, Chandan highlighted that India has surpassed Japan to become the world's fourth-largest economy with a GDP of $4 trillion, a milestone achieved under PM Modi's stewardship. "From economic growth to defense innovation, PM Modi's vision is transforming India into a global powerhouse," he added.
Chandan concluded by expressing confidence that the Sudarshana Chakra Mission will not only enhance India's security but also inspire future generations to contribute to a self-reliant, prosperous, and strong Bharat.
