GDC Ramgarh celebrates National Sports Day 2025

RAMGARH, Aug 29: Government Degree College (GDC) Ramgarh organized a vibrant series of activities to commemorate National Sports Day 2025, marking the birth anniversary of the hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The celebrations turned out to be a resounding success, engaging students in a variety of games and competitions, spreading the message of fitness, mental strength, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.
Under the able guidance and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College, the Department of Physical Education and Sports meticulously orchestrated the event. The day featured a spirited Carrom, Chess, and Table Tennis competition, encouraging students to showcase their sporting skills and strategic thinking.
In the Carrom competition, Gurmeet Kour clinched the first prize, followed by Kajal in the second position, while Sonika Devi secured the third place. The Chess competition witnessed equally intense participation, with Hema Choudhary emerging as the winner, Malika Choudhary as the first runner-up, and Harmandeep as the second runner-up. Adding more charm to the occasion, a Table Tennis match was played by the faculty members, which created an atmosphere of fun and excitement. Mr. Vijay Kumar showcased excellent skills to clinch the first position, while Mr. Ashok Kumar secured the second position and Prof. Brham Dutt secured the Third Position in Table Tennis match.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol emphasized the pivotal role of sports in leading a balanced life. She encouraged students to actively take part in sports and fitness activities as they enhance physical strength, mental well-being, and personality development. Mr. Ashok Kumar, HoD of Physical Education and Sports, recalled the launch of the Fit India Mission by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 and highlighted this year's theme - "Sport to Promote Peaceful and Inclusive Societies." The event also witnessed the gracious presence of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Prof. Brham Dutt, and Dr. Shivali Panjgotra, who applauded the efforts of the students and the department in making the celebration a success. The National Sports Day celebration at GDC Ramgarh showcased the college's commitment to promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and the spirit of healthy competition among its students.
