EPFO Jammu felicitates Jatin Sabarwal on the occasion of National Sports Day 2025

JAMMU, Aug 29: Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) Jammu organised a chess tournament from August 27, 2025, to August 29, 2025, to commemorate National Sports Day, honouring the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. This year's National Sports Day theme, "India's tribute to Olympic Spirit and the core values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect," resonated deeply with the participants.
The chess tournament was a grand success, with 12 players from EPFO Jammu participating and showcasing their strategic thinking and competitive spirit. The winners were:
Winner: Sh. Aman Dhandhi, Accounts Officer
Runner Up: Sh. T. Shiva Murthy, Enforcement Officer
2nd Runner Up: Sh. Paramjeet Singh, Sr. Social Security Assistant
A prize distribution ceremony was held to felicitate the winners. The chief guest, Sh. Jatin Sabarwal, Asian Silver Medallist in Roller Hockey and 2 times National Gold Medallist graced the occasion and presented the trophies to the winners. In his address, the chief guest congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of all participants. He emphasized the importance of sports in promoting physical and mental well-being and encouraged the staff to participate in sports activities. Sh. Jatin Sabarwal was also presented with the Major Dhyan Chand Trophy for recognizing his outstanding achievements in sports and bringing laurels in the field of spots for J&K.
Devinder Singh, Enforcement Officer, was presented with the Major Dhyan Chand Trophy for participating in 7 basketball national-level events representing J&K, recognizing his outstanding achievements in sports. This award is a testament to his dedication and commitment to excellence in sports in EPFO fraternity.
National Sports Day is celebrated on August 29, 2025, marking the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, widely regarded as one of the greatest hockey players of all time. This day is an opportunity to promote sports, fitness, and wellness among citizens, particularly the youth. EPFO Jammu's chess tournament is a testament to the organisation's commitment to fostering a culture of sports and excellence among its employees.
