Transport Secretary visits I&CC, ARTO office at Samba, stresses on adhering to project timelines

SAMBA, Sept 5: After taking over the charge of the department, J&K Transport Secretary Avni Lavasa (IAS) on Thursday conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Inspection & Certification Centre at Samba.
J&K Transport Secretary Avni Lavasa along with senior officers of the department today visited the Inspection & Certification Centre Barian near AIIMS Samba. ARTO Samba Romesh Samotra welcomed the Transport Secretary with a bouquet. Thereafter, the Transport Secretary inspected the Driving Test Ground and Fitness Board and reviewed their functioning in detail. She interacted with the officers and staff and stressed on the need for transparent, efficient and citizen-friendly service delivery. She also said that the functioning of I&CC will play a vital role in issuing fitness certificates to vehicles.
She also urged the executing agencies to complete the remaining work at the earliest so that the centre can be made operational. Later she also visited ARTO Office Samba and also reviewed the processes related to vehicle registration, issuance of permits and public service delivery mechanism, and called for greater use of technology and improved work culture to minimize inconvenience to citizens.
Appreciating the efforts of the officers and staff, Smt. Avni Lavasa (IAS) urged them to work with renewed dedication and commitment towards making the Transport Department more efficient, accountable and people-centric.
Arun Kishore Kotwal (Addl.Transport Commissioner), Vikas Anand (Joint Transport Commissioner), Rajeshwar Charak (Addl. Secretary Transport), Jugal Kishore Pandoh (Dy. Director Planning), Romesh Kumar Smotra (ARTO Samba), Vijay Kumar Atri (Xen R&B) Samba, MVI C.S Baloria, MVI Mansoor Hussain Dar and MVI C.M Sharma were also present during the visit.
