Yogi Govt set to make UP global leader in agriculture by 2047
9/6/2025 10:10:13 PM
Early Times Report

Lucknow, Sept 6: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has committed to transforming the state into “Viksit UP @2047.” To achieve this, a comprehensive strategy has been designed to advance the agriculture sector over the next 22 years. At the heart of this vision is innovation and technology-driven growth in agriculture and allied fields.
The Chief Minister has stressed that combined progress in agriculture and industry will make UP the growth engine of a Viksit Bharat. In the years ahead, the state aims to become not only a model for Indian farmers but also a global benchmark in agriculture.
The Yogi government has set a target to make UP number one in the country in crop productivity by 2030, and to bring the state at par with countries like Mexico, China, France, and the USA by 2047. UP also targets the top spot in agricultural exports within India by 2030 and aims to join global leaders like Russia, Australia, and Canada by 2047.
For this, the state government has identified focus areas including:
• Storage and value addition
• Processing infrastructure (PACS, FPOs, Mega Food Parks, Cold Chain)
• Agricultural education, innovation, and research
• Sustainable agriculture
• Expansion of scientific techniques
• Crop diversification
Key transformations in the past eight and a half years
Before 2017, the state was lagging with low agricultural production. Scientific technology was barely used, and farmers struggled to get fair prices for their produce. Cold chains and food processing facilities were almost absent. However, in the past eight years, the scenario has completely transformed.
The Yogi government has prioritized linking farmers with modern technology, strengthening the mandi system, expanding storage and cold chain infrastructure, and promoting the FPO model. As a result, Uttar Pradesh is now achieving remarkable growth in both agricultural productivity and diversity.
