jammu, Sept 10: In wake of devastation due to floods and landslides in both regions of JKUT, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri on Wednesday appealed to the Prime Minister's to visit floods landslides affected areas of the both regions of JKUT on the pattern of Punjab and Haryana states to takes stocks of situation both the States and also conducted serial survey of the affected areas in wake of floods and landslides and announced Rs.1600Cr flood assistance to Punjab, Rs 1500Cr. to Himachal Pradesh.
In a statement issued here, Shastri said that floods landslides caused massive destructions in both regions of JKUT is also extremely worrying for the Nation. This initiative will go a long way and sense of inclusive ness towards the flood victims and access personally the damages the Life and property of the flood victims which will help him justifying the grant of special package and compensation quikely so that the restoration of normal public activities will pick up momentum, he added.
However shastri described the large scale destruction of property, infrastructure and Live hoods as" extremely worrying the Country". He said the scale devastation requires urgent intervation from highest level leadership. Shastri also appealed to Central Government to take concrete steps for strengthing disaster preparedness in vulnerable and disaster prone regions of J&K. He said that long -term measures must be adopted to prevent such large scale damage in future.
Shastri acknowledged that the administration is actively working to restore essential services in far flung areas on a priority basis but stressed that the enormity of the disaster demands additional central government support. Appealing to people to remain calm and extendfull cooperation to the authorities, he said unity and patience are vital during these trying times.
Expressing appreciation for LG Manoj Sinha and the chief Minister for personally super visioning rescue and relief operations round the clock, Shastri lauded their efforts to coordinate immediate responses despite the widespread challenges. Shastri expressed hope that with combined efforts from the Union and JKUT Governments, normalcy will be restored in the shortest possible time."The swift measures being undertaken by the administration are commendable, but what is needed now is a comprehensive relief package from the Centre to ensure affected families receive adequate support, "he added.
