Shrine Board organizes 3-day free Health Camp for flood affected families in Reasi
9/10/2025 10:49:23 PM
Early Times Report
KATRA, Sept 10: In a humanitarian response to the recent floods and landslides that severely impacted various parts of Reasi district, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, under the aegis of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, JK-UT commenced a three-day free health camp to provide urgent medical assistance to affected families.
The inaugural camp was held today at Government Migrant Middle School, Talwara (Block Pouni), District Reasi which witnessed substantial participation from flood-affected families and locals residing in the area. Continuing this outreach initiative, subsequent camps are scheduled to be conducted on September 11 & 12 at Jamslan and Sarh in Block Mahore, thereby extending healthcare services to vulnerable populations residing in these remote regions.
The initiative has been undertaken as per the directions of the Hon'ble Chairman, SMVDSB (Lt. Governor, JK-UT), reaffirming the Shrine Board's enduring commitment to public welfare and humanitarian outreach beyond its spiritual responsibilities.
A comprehensive range of medical services was provided during the camp, including general health check-ups, pediatric consultations, gynecological care, orthopedic evaluations and treatment for waterborne and vector-borne diseases, ailments commonly prevalent in post-flood conditions. Free medicines were distributed to all patients, with special focus on vulnerable groups such as children, senior citizens and expectant mothers. In addition, several diagnostic services including ECGs, blood tests and sugar screenings were offered at no cost to the attendees.
A dedicated team comprising six qualified doctors and over fifteen paramedical personnel rendered their services during the camp, ensuring timely and effective medical care to those in need. Their efforts were instrumental in addressing the immediate health concerns of the affected persons.
Pertinent to mention that the Shrine Board has been actively engaged in relief operations since September 3, distributing essential relief materials in coordination with the District Administrations of Reasi, Udhampur and Jammu. These efforts have included the provision of dry ration kits, utensils, blankets, tarpaulins, tents, and other necessary items for immediate assistance to families, with the objective of safeguarding their welfare during this crisis.
