District police Reasi busts heroin peddling module, 4 arrested with 22 grams of heroin

REASI, Sept 10: Continuing its relentless drive against narcotics smuggling and its menace in the district, Reasi Police have arrested four persons and recovered 22 grams of heroin from their possession.
On 09.09.2025, at about 1500 hrs, PSI Akhilesh Khajuria, I/C PP Kakryal, along with a police team was performing routine naka checking duty at PCP Sool Kakryal. During checking, a silver-coloured Santro car bearing registration number DL7C/1800, coming from Manthal (highway side) towards Katra, was stopped.
The vehicle was being driven by Vikas Sharma S/o Late Bodh Raj R/o House No. 45, Ward No. 12, Katra, Reasi, while three other persons were traveling with him, identified as:
Amit Sharma S/o Late Vishwanath R/o Dansal, Teh. Dansal, Distt. Jammu
Babloo Sharma S/o Des Raj R/o Jad, Teh. Akhnoor, Jammu, A/P Kun Drorian, Katra
Amit Kumar S/o Late Ram Parkash R/o Kun Drorian, Teh. Katra, Distt. Reasi
During their frisking, 22 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 251/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and all the four accused have been arrested.
It is pertinent to mention that three among the arrested persons are hardcore, notorious offenders with multiple previous involvements:

Babloo Sharma - previously involved in four cases of P/S Katra:

FIR No. 199/2024 U/S 109/191(2) BNS & 4/25 Arms Act
FIR No. 152/2025 U/S 4/25 Arms Act
Amit Sharma - previously involved in FIR No. 68/2019 U/S 34, 363, 376 RPC of P/S Udhampur.
The whole operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran-JKPS.
District Police Reasi under the command of SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS has intensified its campaign against drug peddlers and anti-social elements. The recovery and arrest have dealt a strong blow to narcotics smuggling networks operating in the area.
Police appeal to the general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling to help eradicate this menace from the society. Identity of the informers shall be kept confidential.
