GGM Science College organizes one-day induction program on NEP- 2020

Jammu, Sept 11: UGC Committee, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Government Gandhi Memorial (G.G.M.) Science College and UGC-NEP Saarthis Team (Cluster University, Jammu) today organized a One-day Induction Program on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, under the mentorship of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal. The program was specially designed for newly admitted Semester I students, with the objective of familiarizing them with the vision, opportunities, and transformative aspects of NEP 2020. The event was graced by esteemed faculty members, along with galaxy of students wherein the distinguished Resource Person Prof. (Dr) Naveen Anand, Principal GCW Bhagwati Nagar Jammu who delivered an insightful lecture on the holistic and futuristic framework of NEP 2020.
Earlier, the program commenced with a formal welcome address delivered by Dr. Balwinder Kaur, Convener, UGC Committee. In her address, Dr. Kaur emphasized that NEP 2020 is not merely a policy document but a roadmap to nurture flexibility, creativity, innovation, skill development, and holistic growth among learners, preparing them to become responsible and future-ready citizens.
Dr. Naveen Anand in his address enlightened the participants on the structural and conceptual reforms under NEP 2020, highlighting the advantages of multidisciplinary learning, research opportunities from the undergraduate level, internships, and innovation platforms. The session encouraged students to embrace the academic flexibility offered by the policy and actively participate in the Institution’s Innovation Council and other initiatives.
Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, in his remarks, underlined the importance of higher education as a journey of self-discovery, growth, and contribution to society, urging students to utilize every opportunity provided by the college and the NEP 2020 framework.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 300 students, reflecting the vibrancy and curiosity of the new academic batch.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pankaj Gupta (UGC-NEP-SAARTHIS), who expressed gratitude to the Resource Person, organizing team, faculty, and students for making the program a success. Others faculty members who attended the program were Dr. Ajay Singh Dadwal (Convener Institution Innovation Council), Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Dr. Pawan, Dr. Altaf Ahmad, Dr. Arun Sharma, Dr. Preeti Verma, Dr. Asha, Dr. Arti Heer and Dr. Muzafer A. Sheikh.
The induction program proved to be an inspiring start for the new entrants, instilling in them a sense of purpose, positivity, and determination as they embark on their higher education journey at G.G.M. Science College.
