early times report

Jammu, Sept 11: The Institute of Management Sciences (IMS), Jammu, launched a Two-day Induction programme – Aarambh 2025, on September 11, 2025, to welcome the new batch of BBA and BCA 1st semester students. The event aimed to familiarize students with the institute’s legacy, academic culture, and the opportunities they will experience over the next few years.
The programme started with the Lamp lighting ceremony followed by a welcome address by Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, Director, IMS, who welcomed the first year students with an introduction to the institute’s growth and vision since its establishment as the first professional college in Jammu & Kashmir in 1997. She highlighted the achievements of IMS students and alumni and motivated the newcomers to embrace both academic and holistic development during their journey.
Dr. Sharma then invited Mrs. Tamana Pandohi, Head of IFI Language Studio, as the Guest speaker of the day. Mrs. Pandohi began her interactive session with an ice-breaking activity to engage students. She then guided them through discussions on personality development, the role of a degree in the workplace, and 5Cs for success. She also highlighted the essential skills required in the modern workplace, stressing adaptability, communication excellence, and critical thinking.
The first day programme concluded with a hearty vote of thanks delivered in honour of the guest speaker, acknowledging her valuable inputs. Following this, Professor J R Dhotra, gave the closing remarks, summarising the key learnings and motivating the students to apply them in the years to come. The second day of the induction programme is scheduled for September 12, 2025, and will continue to provide the freshers with meaningful sessions designed to ease their transition into the academic, professional, and social life at IMS.
The two-day event reflects IMS’s commitment to creating a nurturing environment where students not only build academic excellence but also develop the workplace skills required of future leaders
