IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu observes Swachhata Pakhwada

Jammu, Sept 11: Jammu Regional Centre of IGNOU is observing Swachhata Pakhwada w.e.f. September 1, 2025 till September 15, 2025 holding a series of events and activities to inculcate a sense of cleanliness and hygiene among the staff, students, stakeholders of the University and general masses.
A pledge was administered by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor. Prof. Uma Kanjilal, to all the Regional Centres which saw participation of a gamut of officials and staff across the country through the virtual platform. Regional Director, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, subsequently administered Swachhata Pledge to the Regional Centre staff to uphold Swachh Bharat principles.
Regional Director also administered Swachhata Pledge to the Coordinators and Programme In Charges of the Learner Support Centres of IGNOU Jammu spread across the region in a virtual ceremony held online. The active participation of all Coordinators and Programme I/Cs and collective reading of the pledge reaffirmed commitment to the values of cleanliness, discipline and civic responsibility.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and served as a strong motivation for further fold of activities to be taken up in the fortnight.
Officials conducted cleanliness drives within the Regional Centre premises. A significant drive to remove obsolete items and weed out physical files helped to clear workspaces. Officials participated in weeding out unwanted grass and shrubs from the campus pathway. Old physical files were reviewed, recorded, and weeded out. Obsolete items were identified for auction.
Indoor plants were placed in the Campus pathways and Corridors to promote a clean and hygienic office environment.
Regional Director, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, informed that a number of activities like discouraging single-use plastics, promoting sustainable waste management practices, slogan competitions, public awareness rallies about cleanliness and hygiene, tree plantation drives, and other activities are lined up to be held throughout the fortnight.
