9/14/2025 9:47:02 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Sept 14: Continuing its commitment to the welfare of people residing in remote and border areas, the Indian Army conducted a Medical Patrol in the far-flung village of Kothra, located in Tehsil Darhal, District Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir. This initiative was aimed at extending basic healthcare facilities to the underserved local population, many of whom have limited access to medical services due to the region's geographical and infrastructural challenges. During the patrol, the Army's medical team provided on-site consultations and free medicines to villagers suffering from common ailments. A total of 20 men, 25 women and 10 children, along with other members of the community, were attended to by the team.
The outreach not only focused on treatment but also emphasized preventive healthcare, underlining the importance of early diagnosis and routine medical check-ups. In addition to the clinical support, the Army team also conducted awareness sessions designed to educate the villagers on essential health practices. These included discussions on preventive healthcare, the symptoms and management of common communicable and non-communicable diseases and the detrimental effects of drug abuse, especially among the youth. The interactive nature of the sessions encouraged villagers to ask questions and engage meaningfully with the healthcare personnel.
The initiative was met with overwhelming appreciation from the local residents, who expressed their gratitude for the continued efforts of the Indian Army in reaching out to the most inaccessible corners of the region. Community elders and youth alike acknowledged the vital role such efforts play in improving the quality of life in remote areas. The Indian Army remains steadfast in its mission to support and empower border communities through civic outreach programs. This medical patrol exemplifies the Army's enduring dedication to nation-building, not only through the defence of borders but also by contributing meaningfully to the social and health welfare of citizens in underserved areas.
