3 cab drivers booked for violating traffic advisory, overcharging

Jammu, Sept 15: To ensure strict implementation of the THQ Traffic Advisory issued for 15.09.2025 whereby only down-movement of vehicles on NH-44 was authorised , a Traffic Naka was established at Jagti near IIM Jammu.
At around 1000 hrs, 3 commercial Swift vehicles bearing Registration No(S) JK06C-0915, JK17A-6305 and JK17A-6364 were intercepted and found to be transporting passengers towards Doda–Kishtwar in violation of Traffic Advisory as well as charging fares above the approved rate. The drivers started misbehaving with the Traffic Cops and refused to comply lawful directions requiring them to produce documents.
They were detained immediately and taken to Police Station Nagrota. The drivers have been identified as under:
1. Abdul Gafoor S/o Altaf Din R/o Bhala, Gandoh
2. Aqib Hussain Bhat S/o Abdul Kabir Bhat R/o Berwar, Kishtwar
3. Mohd. Tayab S/o Mohd. Amin R/o Chatroo, Kishtwar
FIR No 195/2025 U/S 132/126(2) BNS 177/ 179/201 MV Act has been registered at P/S Nagrota against the accused who have been arrested. The Cabs involved in the incident have also been seized.
General public is requested to follow traffic advisories strictly and avoid engaging with unauthorized transporters. Anyone violating traffic advisories or overcharging from passengers shall be strictly dealt with.
