Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 17: The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association has expressed its deepest gratitude to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and the Ministry of External Affairs for their timely, compassionate, and personal intervention in facilitating the repatriation of the mortal remains of Mr. Shakir Ahmad Sheikh, a Kashmiri youth who tragically passed away in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
The Association said that, On 4th September, the family of the deceased had reached out to the Association, seeking assistance in taking up the matter with the External Affairs Minister's Office. Following this, the Association immediately wrote to Dr. Jaishankar, after which the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Riyadh intervened swiftly with utmost sensitivity.
Association added that, The mortal remains were repatriated to Delhi Airport on 15th September and subsequently transported to Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir, on 16th September, where his last rites were performed with dignity and in accordance with cultural and religious traditions. This compassionate support brought immense solace to the grieving family and community.
National Convenor of Association Nasir Khuehami extended thanks to the External Affairs Minister Dr Jaishankar, officials of the Indian Embassy in Riyadh for their constant monitoring, seamless coordination with the Ministry, and proactive engagement with both the family and the concerned authorities. Their compassionate handling of the case reaffirmed the efficiency and responsiveness of the Ministry of External Affairs.
Khuehami asserted that, These interventions under the leadership of Dr. S. Jaishankar reaffirm the message that no Indian, irrespective of region, community, or faith, is left unattended in times of tragedy. It is in such moments of crisis that the true essence of leadership is tested, and the MEA under Dr. Jaishankar has once again shown that the Government of India stands firmly by its people, both within and beyond its borders."
He reiterated its appreciation for the Ministry's commitment and assured the bereaved family of its continued support, standing in solidarity with them in this time of grief
