Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 19: A press conference was organized today by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu District, under the leadership of Sh. Rajesh Gupta Advocate, District President. The conference witnessed the active participation of CA. Deepak Kapahi, Convenor BJP Professional Cell J&K, Sh. Vinod Suri, District Convenor GST, Smt. Anu Bali, Former Corporator, Sh. Keshav Chopra, and Sh. Raman Sharma, Spokesperson District Jammu.
Addressing the media, CA. Deepak Kapahi explained in detail the transformative benefits of the Next-Gen GST Reforms, emphasizing how the reforms are designed to provide relief to citizens, boost economic activity, and simplify compliance. The main highlights of his address included:
1. Reduction in Tax Burden: GST rates have been significantly slashed, with cuts in 99% of goods in the 12% bracket and 90% in the 28% bracket, thereby bringing major relief to households and the middle class.
2. Boost to Consumption: With lower tax rates, domestic consumption is expected to rise by nearly Rs. 2 lakh crore, strengthening India's economy from the grassroots level.
3. Relief for Households: Essentials will now be taxed at only 0-5%, directly reducing the cost of living for citizens and particularly empowering women who manage household budgets.
4. Support for Farmers: The reduction of GST on tractors, irrigation systems, and farming equipment to 5% will ease farming costs and boost agricultural incomes.
5. Encouragement for Businesses & MSMEs: The new system provides simplified GST structures, faster refunds, and technology-driven compliance measures that will empower small businesses to expand and generate employment opportunities.
6. Boost to Make in India & Exports: Reduced costs of production and faster refunds will enhance the global competitiveness of Indian goods, thereby supporting the vision of Make in India.
7. Citizen-Friendly Reforms: The simplified GST regime with only two slabs will make compliance easier for both businesses and citizens, marking a historic step towards ease of doing business.
Rajesh Gupta Advocate appreciated the new reforms in detail, highlighting how they will provide long-term benefits to the people of Jammu and Kashmir as well as the nation at large. He stated that these reforms not only simplify taxation but also pave the way for inclusive growth, ensuring that farmers, traders, women, and small businesses all benefit equally. He further added that the BJP government under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi is committed to strengthening the economy and empowering every section of society.
The proceedings concluded with Sh. Vinod Suri, District Convenor GST, presenting the vote of thanks.
