Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch appeals for unity, dialogue in Ladakh
10/2/2025 5:36:54 PM

early times report

Jammu, Oct 2: The Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM), in a meeting held today under the guidance of Dr. Vivek Sharma, President BTSM, discussed the current state of affairs in Ladakh and reiterated that peace and dialogue are the only sustainable ways to achieve lasting progress and secure the aspirations of its people.
The Manch acknowledged the historic significance of the reorganization of the state of Jammu & Kashmir, which fulfilled a long-standing demand of the people of Ladakh for Union Territory status. This constitutional move was a landmark step towards granting Ladakh greater autonomy and a direct voice in its own governance and development.
In a statement, the BTSM highlighted the positive, incremental changes that have followed this transition. "The establishment of a separate University of Ladakh stands as a prime example of the Centre's commitment to the region's educational empowerment and future growth. Enhancements in recruitment and other administrative areas are also paving the way for a new era of opportunity for the youth of Ladakh," the statement read.
The Manch, however, cautioned that this period of transition is also a testing time. It noted that forces inimical to peace and stability are actively attempting to destabilize the region and disrupt the harmonious social fabric of the Indian state.
"The people of Ladakh have a storied history of being the sentinels of our nation, steadfastly securing our borders and consistently defeating the evil designs of neighbours seeking to create unrest," the statement emphasized. "Their contribution to the subcontinent's understanding of peace through strength is unparalleled."
The BTSM urged all stakeholders to face the current situation with similar resolve, urging faith in constructive dialogue and collective efforts to prevent any agenda of violence.
"This time demands that we stand united, reinforcing our faith in democratic processes and peaceful resolution. The people of Ladakh are known for their wisdom and courage, and it is through these virtues that we will continue to build a prosperous and secure future, firmly within the framework of Indian Constitution," the press release concluded.
The statement was issued by Dr. Vivek Sharma, President, Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch, along with Dr. Nitan Sharma, in the presence of other senior members of the organization.
