GDC Ramnagar organises Intra-College Geological Model-Making Competition

Ramnagar, Oct. 13: The Department of Geology, in collaboration with the Nature’s Club and IQAC of Government Degree College Ramnagar, organized an “Intra-College Geological Model-Making Competition” to foster scientific temperament and creativity among students.
A total of 11 groups participated in the event, showcasing their innovative geological models based on various themes such as rock formations, plate tectonics, rock cycle and mineral resources.
The competition was adjudged by Dr. Kewal Kumar, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Pandit, and Prof. Sumita Rao, who appreciated the originality, presentation, and scientific accuracy of the models. After a close evaluation, the first prize was bagged by the group comprising Vansh Modi, Malvika Sathe, and Vidyut Modi ; the second prize went to the group comprising Pihu, and Anishka; and the third prize was secured by the group comprising Deepanjali, Rahul Dev, Rajesh Singh, and Omkar Singh.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, in his address, congratulated the winners and lauded the efforts of the organizing team for encouraging experiential and participatory learning.
He emphasized that such activities align with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes creativity, innovation, and multidisciplinary learning.
He further added that model-making activities help students develop a deeper understanding of geological processes through hands-on experience and teamwork.
The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Sham Singh, Head, Department of Geology, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and expressed gratitude to the judges and faculty members for their support. The members of the Nature’s Club and IQAC also played a vital role in coordinating the event smoothly.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Vidhushi Dhiman and students were encouraged to continue engaging in such academic and creative endeavors that blend science with imagination.
