Dr Mallika Nadda Unveils MiG-21 at Pinegrove

Jammu, Oct 17: Pinegrove School, Subathu, Solan, celebrated its Annual Function on 17th October 2025 with grandeur and enthusiasm. On this momentous occasion, the Chief Guest, Dr Mallika Nadda, President, National Body for Special Olympics Bharat, unveiled an Air Frame of a MiG-21 aircraft in the school and also inaugurated a newly constructed Administrative Block. The School was also honoured to have Air Marshal Manavendra Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VrC, VSM, Member Armed Forces Tribunal, Chandimandir.
The MiG-21 aircraft was facilitated by Mr JP Nadda for Pinegrove School and has been installed on the School Campus at Subathu standing as a proud symbol of India’s glorious defence heritage and serves as a lasting source of inspiration and motivation for the young Grovians.
The spectacular event was a confluence of discipline, creativity, and cultural vibrancy, showcasing the finest talents students had honed during the academic year.
The event commenced with Dr Mallika Nadda taking the salute of an impressive march-past presented by the School’s NCC contingents of boys and girls, epitomizing precision, pride, and patriotism.
This was followed by a gymnastics display featuring floor and horse-work routines, where students showcased agility, coordination, and endurance honed through rigorous training. The Pinegrove School Brass Band, reigning HP and North Zone champions, impressed the audience with a stirring performance, while the Field Dance celebrated India’s rich cultural diversity through Rajasthan’s vibrant and rhythmic folk dances. The School Jazz Band added sparkle to the event with their soulful and lively numbers that enthralled the gathering.
The cultural segment, held In the Gulab Auditorium, opened with a soulful classical rendition of Raag Kirwani, Shivranjani, and Vrindavani, setting a serene tone for an evening of artistic brilliance. The Annual Report, presented eloquently by eight Class XII students, highlighted Pinegrove’s scholastic and co-scholastic achievements during the academic year.
The highlight of the evening was the Hindi play “Udaan”, a moving story of a young girl who dreams of becoming a pilot but loses her eyesight in an accident. Rising above despair, she finds solace and purpose in singing, turning her shattered dreams into an inspiring journey of resilience and hope. The heartfelt performance left a deep emotional impact on the audience.
Equally captivating was the Kathak Ballet – “Chhatrapati Shivaji”, which paid a graceful tribute to the legendary Maratha warrior. Through intricate footwork, expressive gestures, and dynamic formations, the dancers vividly portrayed Shivaji’s courage, leadership, and unwavering patriotism. The mesmerizing performance earned thunderous applause for its artistic excellence and historical grandeur. The Art and Craft Exhibition, held alongside, reflected the students’ creativity, innovation, and artistic expression.
In her address, Dr Mallika Nadda commended the School Management for providing world-class infrastructure and nurturing holistic education that fosters both intellect and character. She emphasized the collective role of educators and parents in shaping empathetic, confident, and capable citizens of the nation.
The function was also attended by faculty and students of Pinegrove School’s sister institution — Sallie B. Howard School, North Carolina, USA. Mr Sandeep Aggarwal, Assistant Director and Dean (IT and Administration), along with his team of five teachers and four students, attended the celebrations, reflecting the deep academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The Annual Function at Pinegrove School, Subathu, was indeed a magnificent celebration of excellence, perseverance, and creativity — leaving the audience inspired and proud of the school’s enduring legacy.
Adding distinction to the event were eminent dignitaries —Sh. Trilok Jamwal, MLA, Bilaspur Constituency; Dr. Rajiv Saizal, Former Health Minister, Himachal Pradesh; Sh. Paramjeet Singh Pammi, Former MLA, Doon Constituency; Mrs Rashim Dhar Sood,Vice President, Special Olympic Bharat & Vice President BJP, HP. Mr. Arun Sen, Raja of Kuthar; Mr. Puroshottam Ji Adhyaksh of Chetna Sanstha and Harish Chandra Nadda, practicing Supreme Court lawyer and social worker.
