JAMMU, Oct 18: Rekha Mahajan, Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, inaugurated the Diwali Evening Fest "UJJAS 2025" at RM Public School, Jammu, emphasizing the importance of cultural pride and supporting local products. The event, held in collaboration with sister institutions - Shiksha Niketan Jeevan Nagar, Shiksha Niketan Gandhi Nagar, and Pushp Vatika Jeevan Nagar - brought together students and teachers to celebrate the festival of lights and the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. The celebration was also graced by Namarta Sharma, former Congress Mahila President, and Sanjay Bhau, NC leader.
The occasion was graced by Chairman Rameshwar Mengi, Trustee Rita Mengi, Director RMPS Rakshan Mengi, Director Pushp Vatika Rasheek Mengi, and dignitaries from the sister schools. Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit and support for the school's cultural initiatives.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and invoking blessings for prosperity and well-being.
Students from all participating schools showcased an array of cultural performances, including soulful bhajans, folk dances, and engaging skits that reflected the rich heritage and values associated with Diwali.
The school grounds were adorned with Rangolis and Diyas, creating a vibrant and festive ambiance.
Speaking on the occasion, Rekha Mahajan, who was the chief guest opn the occasion, emphasized the importance of celebrating festivals with cultural pride and responsible choices.
She urged the students, "While enjoying the festivities, children should embrace Made-in-India toys and products. Supporting local craftsmanship not only strengthens our economy but also helps preserve our cultural heritage. Let us celebrate Diwali by choosing items that promote indigenous talent and innovation."
Rekha Mahajan further added, "Diwali is a time for joy, learning, and togetherness. Festivals like UJJAS 2025 inspire students to develop creativity, unity, and social responsibility. I am delighted to see the enthusiasm and talent of these young minds, and I hope they continue to uphold the values of culture, education, and innovation."
Chairman Rameshwar Mengi also extended warm greetings, highlighting the importance of celebrating togetherness, cultural traditions, and community bonding. The event concluded with a message of hope and prosperity, reinforcing the spirit of Diwali and the school's dedication to fostering cultural values among students.
