| Ananya Sharma wins gold in boxing | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 19: Ananya Sharma, student of BA 3rd Semester of Government Degree College Neeli Nallah Udhampur won gold medal in Boxing Championship 2025 held at Jammu University, Sports Stadium, from Oct 16 to Oct 18-2025. This Inter-Collegiate Tournament was organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education Jammu. The Championship was co-ordinated by the Boxing Association J&K under the banner of J&K Sports Council.The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from teams representing Jammu divisions, showcasing the sportsmanship and talent of young athletes from across the different colleges of Jammu division.
Around 200 students from different colleges and schools participated in the championship. Ananya sharma won the gold medal by defeating three players in the below 50 kg weight category in Women category. She displayed exceptional skills, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition. The final match was particularly thrilling, demonstrating a combination of technical expertise and unwavering grit to secure knockout final victory of Ananya against Preeti Devi (GCW Udhampur). Prof. Shaista Yasmeen (Convenor Sports) while speaking about her achievement said, "Winning this championship is a dream come true. I am grateful to my College GDC Neeli Nallah, for giving her the excellent platform to pursue both her academics and passion for boxing."
Principal of the college Dr.(Prof.)Seema Arora congratulated Ananya Sharma on her achievements and dedication, thereby, reflecting hardwork and discipline which she has put into training. She said that this has brought ultimate laurels to our college in the field of sports. She further highlighted the significance of sports in the holistic development of young minds. Furthermore, sports play a crucial role in imparting essential life skills, such as teamwork, discipline, resilience, and leadership and we look forward to seeing more such achievement, in the future. |
