Guru Nanak Dev University C Zone Zonal Youth Festival kicks off

AMRITSAR, Oct 25: The Zonal Youth Festival for C Zone commenced today at Guru Nanak Dev University, igniting a three-day celebration of cultural vibrancy and youthful creativity from October 25 to 27. Organized by the Youth Welfare Department under the stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Karamjeet Singh, the event unfolds across four venues: Dashmesh Auditorium, Golden Jubilee Convention Centre, Sangat Hall, and Conference Hall, all starting at 10:00 AM daily, said Incharge, Youth Welfare Prof. (Dr.) Amandeep Singh.
Prof. Palwinder Singh Dean Academic Affairs inaugurated the festival by lighting the candles in the presence of Dr. Amandeep Singh, Dr. Balbir Singh, Dr. Sunil, Dr. Satnam Singh Deol, Dr. Parambir Singh Malhi, Dr. Vishal Bhardwaj, Dr. Harinder Kaur Sohal, Dr. Satwinder, Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, Dr. Prabsirn Singh, Dr. Munish Saini, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, Dr. Sunaina and other faculty/staff members. Prof. Palwinder Singh, addressing the gathered students and educators, emphasized the festival's role in preserving Punjab's rich cultural tapestry while fostering global perspectives.
Day one dazzles with performances in choreography (6 entries), general dance (6), and gidha (8) at Dashmesh Auditorium; vaar singing (6), kawishri (9), classical vocal (5), classical instrumental (percussion, 6), and folk orchestra (4) at Golden Jubilee; on-the-spot painting (13), cartooning (11), and collage (11) at Sangat Hall; and a poetical symposium (14), elocution in English (14), and Punjabi/Hindi (10) at Conference Hall.
Dr. Amandeep Singh said that costume parade (12), mime (4), mimicry (6), skit (6), and one-act play (3) at Dashmesh; group shabad bhajan (8), group song (7), geet/ghazal (9), and folk song (11) at Golden Jubilee; rangoli (12), phulkari (8), poster making (13), and clay modelling (8) at Sangat; plus quiz (13), preliminary and final debates in English (10) and Punjabi/Hindi (11) will be organied at Conference Hall.
On October 27 i.e. on Monday classical dance (5) and bhangra (3) at Dashmesh, alongside western vocal solo (6), western group song (3), and western instrumental solo (4) will be held at Golden Jubilee. Featuring over 200 participants from 16 affiliated colleges, the festival highlights Punjab's rich heritage through dance, music, arts, and oratory, fostering unity and talent.
