Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 26: Following actionable intelligence, the Jammu Forest Range team, led by Range Officer Sh. Kailash Choudhary and under the direct supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Sh. Anurag Arya, IFS, successfully intercepted and seized a Mahindra Scorpio (JK14A-7380) in the Jammu Range for the illegal transportation of Khair billets.
The operation, conducted late at night by the Jammu Range team in collaboration with the J&K Police Party of Gharota Police Station, revealed the vehicle was loaded with Khair billets. These were being transported without the necessary documentation, in contravention of the Indian Forest Act (IFA).
In accordance with legal protocols, confiscation proceedings have been initiated against the responsible parties. The seized vehicle and the illicit forest produce have been placed under official custody pending further legal action.
The Forest Department reaffirms its commitment to the rigorous enforcement of forest protection laws and encourages the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal timber extraction and transportation. These proactive measures are essential for the preservation of forest resources and the prevention of ecological damage.
