IIM Jammu inaugurates General Management Programme for Middle Management Professionals (Batch I) of NHPC Limited

Jammu, Oct 28: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated the General Management Programme for Middle Management – Batch I for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited (A Government of India Navratna Enterprise) at the Vedanta MDP Centre, Jagti Campus on 27th Oct 2025. Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, graced the inaugural ceremony.
The programme aims to enhance managerial capabilities, leadership effectiveness, and strategic thinking among middle-level executives of NHPC, reinforcing IIM Jammu’s commitment to executive education and industry partnership. The training programme comprises 20 middle-management professionals from NHPC representing various regions across the country.
Also present on the occasion were Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research; Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C); Dr. Mahesh Gadekar and Dr. Gaana J., Programme Directors, IIM Jammu. The inaugural session began with participant registration followed by a campus tour showcasing the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities, including Smart Classrooms, the Vedanta Executive Education Block, and the Nalanda Library. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp marking the formal commencement of the programme.
Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, welcomed the participants and emphasized that the six-day General Management Programme programme will offer a meaningful learning experience for both participants and the faculty.
He encouraged participants to approach the programme with commitment, reiterating that learning is a continuous journey. He highlighted that the final session will be project-based, requiring each group to solve a practical problem and present their structured outcomes through a power point presentation.
He urged participants to actively engage, collaborate, and share their professional expertise from the public sector domain. He mentioned that IIM Jammu is a fast-growing institution with world-class infrastructure, including smart classrooms and the automated state-of-the-art Nalanda Library, and invited participants to share constructive suggestions for its further enhancement. He also motivated them to pursue academic and professional growth through academic programmes such as IIM Jammu’s EMBA (Hybrid mode), and Ph.D. programmes for working professionals, stressing the importance of remaining future-ready beyond years of professional service.
He reiterated that IIM Jammu has earned two prestigious international accreditations, BGA Institutional Accreditation and EFMD Programme Accreditation for its MBA programme in the same year, placing it among the top five IIMs in the country.
He noted that IIM Jammu is the only second- and third-generation IIM to achieve this milestone and is currently progressing toward AACSB accreditation, aiming to join the elite global league of Triple Crown accredited business schools. He invited participants to record their expectations from the programme on a piece of paper at the start and reflect on their learning at the conclusion. He wished them a comfortable stay and a fruitful learning experience at IIM Jammu.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, said the training programme offers a valuable platform for mutual learning, with thoughtfully curated modules and a diverse cohort enriching peer learning. Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C), IIM Jammu, said the programme reflects IIM Jammu’s commitment to lifelong learning and has been designed in collaboration with NHPC to address real organizational needs through high-quality and impactful learning.
Dr. Mahesh Gadekar, Programme Director, IIM Jammu, stated that the programme delivers a holistic learning experience through case-based pedagogy focused on real-world application across strategy, finance, project management, geopolitics, and communication. Dr. Gaana J., Programme Director, IIM Jammu, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging NHPC Limited, the faculty, and the organizing team for their support.
The week-long programme features power-packed sessions with IIM Jammu faculty, integrating case studies, simulations, leadership exercises, and strategic discussions to build robust managerial capabilities.
Coordinated by the Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C) vertical of IIM Jammu, the programme reflects the institute’s unwavering commitment to developing future-ready leaders for India’s growth-oriented public sector enterprises through meaningful industry–academia collaboration.
