GDC Vijaypur organises Innovation Boot Camp in collaboration with IIM Jammu

Vijaypur, Nov 3: The Department of Commerce, Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur under various clubs like NSS, Nasha Mukht Bharat, Yuva Mission, Unnat Bharat, Shikshit Bharat in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, successfully organized an “Innovation Boot Camp” aimed at fostering creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, and innovation among students.
Dr Ashu Vashist, Principal of the college stated that this initiative will be a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain practical skills, hands-on experience, and real-world exposure beyond the traditional classroom learning.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Mamta Guptas, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, GDC Vijaypur. In her remarks, Prof. Gupta highlighted the importance of innovation as a driving force for economic growth and encouraged students to actively participate in such learning opportunities that connect academic knowledge with practical insights.
The event featured engaging sessions led by experts from IIM Jammu who introduced participants to the fundamentals of innovation, design thinking, and startup ecosystem development. Students enthusiastically took part in interactive discussions and group activities designed to ignite problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
The Boot Camp featured insightful sessions by Mr. Kannav Padha, Manager, Incubation Centre, IIM Jammu, and Ms. Druvi Sharma, Deputy Manager, Incubation Centre, IIM Jammu. The resource persons engaged students in interactive discussions on design thinking, idea generation, and startup incubation processes, providing them with valuable exposure to the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the resources available through IIM Jammu’s Incubation Centre.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Pooja Gupta, Lecturer, Department of Commerce, GDC Vijaypur, whose efforts ensured the smooth and effective organization of the program.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Lecturer, Department of Education, GDC Vijaypur. Dr. Gunjeet expressed sincere gratitude to the resource persons from IIM Jammu, the college administration, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation and support.
The Innovation Boot Camp proved to be an inspiring and enriching experience, equipping students with practical insights into innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup culture.
The event was coordinated with the support of Prof. Ritu Bhagat (Associate Professor, Dept, of Education), Dr. Arti Sharma (Assistant Professor, Dept of Environmental Sciences), Dr. Manoj Heer (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Dogri), Dr. Naseem Choudhary, (Dept. of English) Prof Meetu Sharma (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Geography), Dr. Anoop Singh (Lecturer, Dept. of History), Prof. Sonia Devi (Lecturer, Dept. of Hindi).
