Director Agriculture Jammu reviews Departmental Display Stall at Jhiri Mela

Jammu, Nov 4: Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu, Shri Anil Gupta, today visited and reviewed the arrangements at the Agriculture Department’s display stall established at the historic Jhiri Mela, which is being inaugurated today and will continue till 13th November 2025.
During the inspection, Shri Anil Gupta took a detailed round of the departmental exhibition area and assessed the displays highlighting various schemes, technologies, and innovations being implemented by the department for the welfare of farmers. He interacted with officers, field functionaries, and staff members who briefed him on the thematic exhibits showcasing organic and natural farming, GI-tagged products, mushroom cultivation, integrated pest management, bee keeping, protected cultivation, soil health management, and agricultural machinery under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) and Kisan Khidmat Ghar (KKG).
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in spreading awareness among the farming community about the latest government initiatives and technological advancements in agriculture. He said, “Jhiri Mela is one of the largest rural gatherings in the region, providing a valuable platform for direct interaction with farmers. Through these stalls, we aim to disseminate knowledge on sustainable agricultural practices and encourage farmers to adopt scientific methods for enhanced productivity and profitability.”
Shri Anil Gupta further directed the officers to ensure that the stall remains informative and farmer-friendly throughout the mela period. He instructed that interactive sessions, live demonstrations, and on-the-spot guidance be provided to visiting farmers regarding soil testing, crop diversification, integrated farming systems, and various centrally sponsored schemes such as PM-Kisan, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, and Kisan Credit Card (KCC).
The Agriculture Department’s stall is expected to attract large numbers of farmers, students, and visitors throughout the mela period, offering practical insights into modern farming techniques and government welfare programmes.
Prominent among those present during the inspection were Sh. Sanjay Anand, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension); Sh. Aman Jyoti Sharma, Joint Director Agriculture (SLUB/Farms); Sh. Vinod Kumar Sharma, Agriculture Chemist; Sh. Vikas Padha, Agronomist (VIS); Sh. Raghubir Pal Kochar, Mushroom Development Officer; Smt. Bharti Thusoo, Assistant Entomologist; Mr. Firdous Ahmad Tak, Agriculture Research Engineer; Sh. Nirmal Parkash, DSCO; Sh. Gopal Krishan, Seed Analyst; Sh. Raj Singh, Potato Development Officer; Sh. Manohar Lal Sharma, Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu; Mr. Khalid Hassan, SDAO Marh; and other senior officers, Agriculture Extension Officers, and departmental staff.
