KVK Reasi gets ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Krishi Vigyan Protsahan Puruskar’

Reasi, Dec 27: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Krishi Vigyan Protsahan Puruskar’during the 12th International Conference on “ Agriculture & Veterinary: Transformative Approach , Research & Innovations Forum (ICAVRI-2025) held recently through hybrid mode at Goa by Goa College of Agriculture,Goa in association with University of Agricultural Sciences(UAS) Dharwad,VNMV,Parbhani,Directorate of Agriculture Goa and Indian Society of Agriculture Science & Technology Research(ISASTR) Society, New Delhi.Many eminent agricultural scientists and research scholars across the globe participated in the mega event and deliberated on the various fields of agriculture, animal husbandry and allied sciences for the welfare of farming community.
The scientists shared their research experiences for the betterment of the farmers’ community.KVK Reasi is working under the dynamic stewardship of Hon’ble Vice,Prof.B.N.Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension,Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J.
The panel conferred the ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Krishi Vigyan Prosahan PuruskarScientist of the Year Award to KVK Reasi based on its overall achievements and accomplishments in the field of agriculture and allied sectors.
KVK overall research publications,popular articles, books, book chapters, success stories, case studies, invited talks, consultancy services, SHGs managed, technologies/models developed and disseminated, projects handled etc. were considered for the coveted award. KVK Reasi is working on natural and organic farming,commercial floriculture,value addition in agr iculture, Self Help Groups (SHGs)/Farmers ProducerOrganisations (FPOs),scientific poultry farming,organic vegetables and fruits production etc.
KVK is emphasizing on the cluster approach to have the maximum impact of KVK interventions.
KVK is stressing on the commodity villages which are having direct impact on the adjoining villages for the adoption of new agricultural technologies.KVK Reasi has establish
ed demonstrations units such as hydroponics unit,hi-tech polyhouse unit, vermicompost unit, natural farming unit,nano kitchen garden, hatchery unit,spices unit, crop cafeteria, high density orchard, low cost greenshade net house unit etc. at its campus.Chief Scientist & Head,KVK Reasi said that KVK is endevouring to minimize the effect of monkey menace by the promotion of lemongrass, floriculture, turmeric, ginger etc. crops in the district.
He added that KVK has also made remarkable efforts for promotion of hybrid maize cultivation, value addition in agriculture, advance horticulture, mushroom cultivation, balanced nutrition for the animals etc.in both Reasi and Udhampur districts.
He expressed that KVK Reasi is developing the agri-entrepreneurship especially among the rural youths of hilly areas and endevouring to increase their income and employment.
